Marani Sanavardo

Established in 2015, Marani Sanavardo prides in making wines using the traditional Georgian winemaking methods dating back thousands of years, producing wine in qvevri. Currently, Marani Sanavardo produced the following three wines: Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, and Saperavi Reserve.

 The winery Marani Sanavardo was founded by emigrant Avtandil Antadze. Avtandil, as a one of the biggest patriots of his homeland, never forgot about the place of his sweet childhood memories during his emigration, the village of Sanavardo. As a wine enthusiastic, he decided to plant Saperavi and Rkatsiteli vineyards in 2002. The important factor that the climate of Sanavardo village and other natural environmental conditions are ideal for getting the best harvest of Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. When he got the first crop and the grapes turned into wine with the old Kakhetian technology, this fact prompted Avtandil to introduce his very first wine to his friends, relatives and big circle of acquaintances. At that moment everyone loved it. This encouraged him to begin the construction of a wine cellar, which would host all those interested in Georgian wine enthusiasts or ordinary tourists.

 He decided to make the wine in a clay vessel, called Qvevri, which goes 15 meters underground to provide better temperature for fermentation. While the excavation of the foundation, in the middle of the vineyards, Avtandil and his winemakers found the clay jar, that was a sign that the place of the cellar had been properly selected. And, of course, in the Qvevri, the best harvest of Saperavi and Rkatsiteli turned into the greatest wine.
