Webinar via Zoom

Georgian Wines 201 offered a deep dive into three distinct macro-terroirs and attendant winemaking styles in the western Georgia.

9:00AM PST / 12:00PM EST / 8:00PM Tbilisi

Beginning in the upper reaches of Imereti and mountainous Racha to the north, we swept down into the warmer, flatter Imeretian lowlands before heading further west, out to the lush semi-tropical regions of Samegrelo and Guria. Along the way, we took a close look at the most important autochthonous varieties in western Georgia, the various approaches to viticulture and vinification and the broader ongoing evolution in these endlessly fascinating corners of the Georgian Wine Universe.

The course was led by LA-based wine educator Taylor Parsons, who was joined by one of Georgian wine’s undisputed masters, Iago Bitarishvili. In addition, we had two guest winemakers: Keto Ninidze, of Oda Family Marani, and Aidan Raftery, the winemaker behind the Igavi label.

Four-ounce tasting pours of six different wines were shipped to the first 40 licensed trade and media to sign-up with preference to those who participated in the 101 class. Wines can also be sourced directly through SevenFifty.

The seminar has an estimated run-time of 90 minutes.
