STORY

The grandfather who lived in Kakheti, Chumlaki in the 19 century was a large landowner and farmer. He used traditional Georgian qvevri for making wine. One of his largest qvevri (4 tones) still belongs to the family.

In line with family traditions, they have been growing Saperavi vineyard in Akura,(Tsinandali zone) Telavi since 2006 and in Shilda, Kvareli since 2019. They are trying to follow sustainable vine growing.

Over the decades their family has been making wine and creating premium natural red and white wine since 2006, even though the marani was only established in 2020.

They are proud and delighted to offer customers Saperavi handmade wine with history and quality. Each and every member of the winery is involved in the winemaking process which makes each bottle unique. The quality is superior and every year’s production is in limited edition.

Their aim is to become well-known by producing high-quality handmade wines, focusing on quality rather than quantity. Despite the fact that we are creating and offering unique and exquisite tastes to our customers based on our 15 years old winemaking experience, our multiyear development plan still includes experimentation with various grapes and techniques finding a balance between traditional and modern approaches.

Currently, the Marani is located in Old Tbilisi, in a historic Italian-style house that was built in the 1890s and owned by a wealthy merchant. By this time, the merchant owner arranged to build a cellar with qvevri and hotel for guests. Now the house belongs to their family.

We look forward to introducing our Qvevri Amber wines on the market in 2022 and building new Marani in Kakheti.

The name Pi ·π has linked to the most popular number in existence. As it can be found not only in nature but also in human creations. The wine is like a number Pi ·π, constant, natural, and irrational.
